Practical Chemistry during a Pandemic including a microscale approach

This online offer is part of our contribution to the Royal Society of Chemistry Secondary and Further Education Group (SaFE) 6th Annual National Teachers and Educators Conference via Zoom Tuesday 13th July, 2021 incorporating the 11th International Symposium on Microscale chemistry Wednesday 14th July, 2021

A competition in the nursery

The analogy extends the famous "apple wars" by Dickerson & Geis. It helps to make the ideas of the chemical equilibrium comprehensible.

Le Chatelier submikrosic, makro, symbolic

Our own "Johnstone Triangle"

We use the selfmade analogy as a helpful link between the macroscopic and the mathematical-symbolic level of representation.

Keywords

analogy, chemical equilibrium, rate of reaction, principle of Le Chatelier, macroscopic, submicroscopic or particulate and mathematical-symbolic levels of representation, ball fight, competition in the nursery, children´s room, mother vs. baby, experiments with syringes
